| | Dr. T. Ragunathan, Professor & Head of the department is working in data engineering, cloud computing and distributed computing areas. He has published around 15 research papers in quality international conferences and journals. Currently he is guiding 7 Ph.D. students under JNTU Hyderabad and Ananthapur. One of his Ph.D. students, Ms. B. Sujatha, also the Assistant Professor of the department, is working on “Speculation-Based Parallel Protocols for Improving the Performance of Long Read-only Transactions”. The Ph.D. students of Dr. T. Ragunathan are working on the following problems which fall under distributed computing, cloud computing and data engineering areas. | Concurrency Control Protocol for Cloud Transaction Management Systems Data-Mining Based Replication Strategies for Cloud Data Storage Systems Efficient Techniques for Concurrent File Access in Cloud Data Storage Systems Data-Mining Based Client-side Caching Strategies for Distributed File Systems Pre-paging techniques to improve the performance of the operating systems - Speculation-based collaborative caching techniques to improve the performance of distributed file system.
| At present two final year student project groups (2008-2012 batch) are working on “Recommender Systems” for e-commerce and “Web Search Engine”. Also, one more group is working on “Development of a prototype Distributed DBMS “on Android-based mobile phones. | Prof. C. Sunil Kumar, Professor of the department has recently submitted his Ph.D. thesis to JNTU Hyderabad and is waiting for Ph.D. viva-voce. He works in the area of Distributed Databases by considering a Case Study on Healthcare Information. He has published 17 research papers in international/national journals and conferences. His areas of research are: Medical Informatics, Distributed Databases, Object Oriented Technologies and Information Retrieval Systems. Presently, the two final year student project groups are working under him in the area of medical informatics and the students are working on “XML-based approaches for the integration of heterogeneous bio-molecular data” and “Challenges in Exchanging Medication Information: Identifying Gaps in Clinical Document Exchange and Terminology Standards”. | Mr. Shyama Chandra Prasad, Associate Professor, of the department is currently doing his Ph.D. under JNTU Hyderabad. His research title is “Natural Object Recognition Using Radial Basis Functions”. He has published 12 papers in international/national journals and conferences. Two final student groups are working with him in “Image compression using multi wavelets” and “Classification of Images Using Back propagation techniques”. |
