Engineering Workshop

Workshop practice is the backbone of the real industrial environment which helps to develop and enhance relevant technical hand skills required by the technician working in the various engineering industries and workshops. This course intends to impart basic know-how of various hand tools and their use in different sections of manufacturing. Irrespective of branch, the use of workshop practices in day to day industrial as well domestic life helps to dissolve the problems. The workshop experiences would help to build the understanding of the complexity of the industrial job, along with time and skills requirements of the job. Workshop curricula build the hands on experiences which would help to learn manufacturing processes and production technology courses in successive semesters. Workshop practice is also important since only practice can make the man perfect. The students are advised to undergo each skill experience with remembrance, understanding and application with special emphasis on attitude of enquiry to Know why and how for the various instructions and practices imparted to them in each shop.

MMS LAB

Metallurgy and Materials deal with the structure and properties of all materials, which have engineering applications. Metallurgists and Materials Engineers are responsible for designing, producing, examining and testing materials as diverse as metallic engineering alloys, semiconductors and superconductors, ceramics, plastics and composites. This course will help students understand the properties of different types of materials and their applications.

Manufacturing Lab

Know about the basic Physical, Chemical Properties of materials Explain why some material(s) are better to be used in a product for given design requirements Learn the basic operation of various manufacturing processes. Learn how various products are made using traditional, non-traditional, or Electronics manufacturing processes Design simple process plans for parts and products Understand how process conditions are set for optimization of production Learn how CNC machines work Write and execute CNC machining programs to cut parts on a milling machine Measure a given manufactured part to evaluate its size, tolerances and surface finish Design and fabricate a simple product.

Thermal Lab

In this laboratory, students will have the opportunity to study the working principle of IC engines (both SI and CI engines), performance and characteristics in terms of heat balancing, economical speed variations, air fuel ratio influence on the engine to reinforce classroom theory by having the student perform required tests, analyze subsequent data, and present the results in a professionally prepared report.The machines and equipment used to determine experimental data include cut models of 4stroke diesel engine, 2stroke petrol engine, 4stroke and two stroke petrol engines with required specifications, Multi cylinder SI engine, Single cylinder Diesel engine for performance and speed test which is suitable to tests on variable compression ratios.

ICS Lab

Students are able to understand principles involved in the measurement and control of industrial processes. In particular, students will be able to learn

  • Understand principles involved in Calibration
  • Learn about the Temperature sensors (Thermocouples,RTD’s, Thermistors, etc.)
  • Aware of Pneumatic and hydraulic pressure concepts
  • Balance the reciprocating masses.
  • To provide knowledge on the fundamentals of measurement science and measuring instruments
  • To provide a knowledge on the basics of control system theory

MOS LAB

In this laboratory, students will have the opportunity to apply loads to various materials under different equilibrium conditions. The student will perform tests on materials in tension, compression, torsion, bending, and impact. These conditions and/or constraints are designed to reinforce classroom theory by having the student perform required tests, analyze subsequent data, and present the results in a professionally prepared report.

Mechanics of Fluids & Hydraulic Machines Lab

A basic knowledge of Fluid mechanics and machinery is essential for all the scientists and engineers because they frequently come across a variety of problems involving flow of fluids such as in aerodynamics, force of fluid on structural surfaces, fluid transport. This fluid mechanics lab helps to understand these physical processes more closely. Various apparatus are available in the laboratory like, Verification of Bernoulli’s theorem apparatus, venturi & Orifice meters, orifice & mouth piece apparatus, Flow over notches apparatus, vortex flow apparatus etc.

Machine Tool Lab

This laboratory is aimed at providing an introduction to the Know-how of common processes used in industries for manufacturing parts by removal of material in a controlled manner. Auxiliary methods for machining to desired accuracy and quality will also be covered. The emphasis throughout the laboratory course will be on understanding the basic features of the processes rather than details of I constructions of machine, or common practices in manufacturing or acquiring skill in the operation of machines.

Heat Transfer Lab

Through this course, students will study about the various heat transfer processes, so as to train the student practically to utilize this knowledge in industry
To demonstrate the concepts discussed in the Heat & Mass Transfer course. To experimentally determine thermal conductivity and heat transfer coefficient through various Materials. To experimentally measure effectiveness of heat exchangers. To conduct performance tests on refrigeration & air conditioning systems.

CAD/CAM Lab

This Lab introduces students to software’s and equipments associated with CAD/CAM

Metrology lab

To Demonstrate the theoretical concepts taught in Mechanical Measurements & Metrology. To understand and use various measuring tools. Understand calibration of various measuring devices.To learn the measurement of bores by internal micrometers and dial bore indicators. To learn the measurement of the Angle and taper s by Bevel protractor, Sine bars, etc.
