Inauguration of Centre of Excellence in VLSI

May 19, 2026

The Chip to Startup (C2S) initiative is a program launched by the Government of India, typically under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and supported by organizations like C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing) and STPI (Software Technology Parks of India). Its aim is to accelerate the development of semiconductor design capabilities in India and to encourage startups and educational institutions to create chip designs locally.

Key Objectives:

  1. Enable Chip Design Startups: Support entrepreneurs and startups to design and develop semiconductor chips.
  2. Promote ESDM (Electronics System Design & Manufacturing): Foster an ecosystem for domestic chip design and manufacturing.
  3. Provide Access to Tools and Infrastructure: Supply VLSI/EDA (Electronic Design Automation) tools, software, and sometimes hardware resources to startups, colleges, and research labs.
  4. Skill Development: Train students and engineers in VLSI design, SoC (System on Chip) development, and semiconductor technologies.
